A few months ago, AquaFlanders, the federation of the Flemish water companies and drain managers, asked us to devise and produce an online awareness campaign about tap water. The ultimate aim of the campaign was to make it self-evident for people to drink tap water.


For the spots we worked together with the Belgian actor Tom Waes and Belgian singer Natalia who make, in their typical no-nonsense style, people aware that tap water is tasty, healthy, eco-friendly and cheap. In addition to these two spots, we made a making-of in which Natalia and Tom explained more about the reason why they support this campaign and why it should be a logical choice for everyone to drink tap water from now on.

As there was no provided budget for media sponsoring, we thought about an approach to generate a large reach in an organic way. We asked 60 well-known Flemish people to take a selfie or video in which they drink tap water and post this on social media with the hashtag #Idrinktapwater (in Dutch ‘#ikdrinkkraanwater’). In no time, more than 1000 people followed their example and shared a selfie or video with the hashtag.

The tap water campaign was picked up by numerous media including VRT, VTM, Karrewiet, ATV, Het Nieuwsblad, Het Laatste Nieuws, Radio 2, Studio Brussels, Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Belang van Limburg.

Last but not least, we made a case movie about the campaign.
